The psalms are so powerful and relevant because they seem to reflect an array of emotions we all can relate to. Whether joyful or desperate, it seems as if they represent the full range of expression and emotion we have when addressing God. The psalms constantly remind us of the nature of God, and they inspire us to express our appreciation of His attributes through music in a way that is both deeply personal and also collective. The 23rd psalm has always been my favorite. I was first exposed to it in public grammar school when it was read to us many years ago. It then and always created a feeling within me of deep comfort. It clearly details the wonderful ways the Lord provides for His children. I have lived long enough to recognize that the promises detailed within the psalm are not abstract ideas but tangible provision for those who believe in Him.
